Excellent – a must buy!
Wow! These are powerful little lanterns. Bright light. Very easy – just pop open and they turn on – batteries come with it. I am going to buy more of them and give them to my elderly parents as they are much easier and functional and brighter than flashlights and easier to carry or hang. I got them for camping but they have multiple uses. Excellent product. Very pleasantly surprised for the lost cost!

Bright light right out of the box. Nice to be able to hang the lanterns and comes with 3 AA batteries installed. Appreciate the easy top lift up design for shedding light on any situation. Perfect size too.

Lightweight bright lantern for power outages or camping!
These little lanterns are the best! They are small and easy to store. The LED light is bright and lights up most of the room. I have several — and have actually bought more to give as gifts. Everyone has loved them as much as I do!

Pros:- Cheap (2 for ~$15)- Bright- Small and very portable (good for camping)Cons:- No variable light intensity that saves power before it automatically switches to “power save” mode- Slides open, turning on, too easy (wastes batteries)This review is for the Etekcity 2 Pack Portable Outdoor LED Camping lantern, though it could be applied to the single pack version as well.I’ve used it now for a couple of outdoor events (camping and an after dark family BBQ). They are rather bright when a set of fully charged batteries are used, brighter than the gas lantern my friend brought on the camping trip. They are made of plastic, although I wouldn’t quite say “military grade” as the description claims. The two main issues I have with the lanterns are 1.) There is no intensity setting to reduce power draw before it switches automatically to a built in power saver and 2.) The method to turn the lantern on or off is to slide it up or down (opening or closing it).To describe the functionality of the lantern, in the closed position, the LEDs are off. When you slide the top section up about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch, the lantern turns on. All the LEDs are turned on and the method to change the intensity is to vary the amount of LEDs exposed by sliding the top portion up or down between fully open and where the LEDs are first turned on. This method is an issue for both the power draw, as mentioned, as well as while walking, with the lantern shut and holding the lantern by the handles, the lantern bottom would slide down, turning the lantern on. On one occasion, when we stopped for a break, I noticed the lantern had rolled out of the box it was on top of in our car trunk and had turned on. I don’t know how long it had been on, but it was a bit frustrating to know that falling and rolling in the back of my car was able to turn it on. I’ve taken to rubber banding them closed when not in use and traveling with them.Longevity wise, I have run one of the lanterns for about 5 hours over a couple nights worth of use, so I haven’t gotten to the “energy saving mode” the description mentions.The other lantern that was turned on in my trunk, I don’t know how long it was on, but it doesn’t seem any dimmer than the other so I can assume it was under the “8 hour high” setting as well.Overall, I would say a good buy and that I would recommend them to others but be careful where you store them so they don’t accidentally roll around and turn on.

Great deal for a great product
We love these. They are SO EASY to use and I love that my young kids can figure out how to make them work on their own. I also love that they take a reasonable type and number of batteries (Not always the case with lanterns) and that batteries are included (not often the case with anything anymore!). My only complaint would be that they are almost TOO BRIGHT, but you can keep them down to a lower setting. This set is a great bang for your buck for camping or power outages. Highly recommend.
