Worth the price, sturdy
The birdbath arrived in good condition. It was easy to set up on the deck railing. It is good size, about 16″ in diameter. The scalloped edging did not deter birds from sitting on the edge to drink as I had feared. The water temperature remains constant and did not freeze when we had a -6 degree night. The water will evaporate so changing and refilling the water daily is important. Also, there is a three-year guarantee on the birdbath, an important consideration to me.

PERFECT “BIRD SPA”!
I installed this on my deck in minutes. The birds love it…so do my squirrels….hope that does not deter any potential buyers…I feed the squirrels, too!I extensively researched heated birdbaths before making this purchase. I chose this one because of the secure feature of screwing onto the base. Another bath I considered tipped to empty and some of the reviews said the bath sometimes tipped over with a strong wind. This one that I bought is very easy to empty by unscrewing about a 1/4 turn, empty, then re-screw.As far as needing a pigtail connector for the extension cord as mentioned in another review: I plugged extension cord directly into the plug under the bath. I LOVE that there is not a pigtail as the connection in totally protected from the elements. No need tape or otherwise protect the cord connections. Sometimes when I empty the bath, I need to secure the extension cord more firmly before screwing back onto base. No big deal to me. If you find this annoying, you could buy the pigtail extension. There is significant evaporation when heater is on. I fill mine daily. When I have missed a day, there is still water, though low. The heater does run above freezing. Just checked my bath–temperature outside 40 degrees. Temperature of bath registered 60 degrees. I do not find this a problem…the temperature last night was below freezing. I figure if the birds are drinking water a bit warmer, better for them. The birdbath is beautiful, just as pictured. I am looking forward to warm weather to see actual bathing.

Fabulous
Purchased this bird bath over the summer and have loved it. It’s a nice, solid, well constructed bird bath. Mounts easily and securely to the deck rail. Easy to clean and move if needed. My only concern is the heating element. We have finally started to get some cold weather here and I noticed the water in the bird bath was freezing, so I finally plugged it in. The heater definitely works. Maybe too well. It doesn’t just keep it from freezing. It’s warm. Very warm. Steam rises over it and wafts across the deck warm. That means the water evaporates very very quickly. I have to add water frequently because it evaporates so quickly. There is no way to regulate it, so I’ll likely just leave it plugged in for portions of the day. Easy enough to do. Otherwise, it’s great. The birds and squirrels love it and I love that I can sit on my deck and enjoy watching them.

A Fantastic Birdbath
We purchased this birdbath last winter but waited to give our review to see how it worked in very cold weather. Well, we are very, very pleased. The water remained lukewarm during our coldest snap. No ice at all. The size accommodates all size birds and a variety of little critters. The scalloped edges are perfect for even the smallest birds to hold onto. Changing the water is a snap. It unscrews with ease and we just dump the old water off the side. The clamps hook solidly on our deck railing and holds the birdbath good and steady. This birdbath is well worth the money. This is our 2nd season and it still looks just like new. Our birdbath must be the talk of bird town because it is always busy, many birds sharing together and others waiting their turn. Such fun!!! This bird bath is awesome! We experienced sub-zero temperatures last week
This bird bath is awesome! We experienced sub-zero temperatures last week. With the exception of a few ice crystals around the edges, the water stayed liquid. The birds are loving it. Six were in the bath yesterday splashing around. As stated in other reviews, it’s true that the water evaporates. It isn’t evaporating because it is hot. I add water every other day. If there is dirt or bird dropping in the water, I change it out which is so easy to do. Give the bath a twist and it comes off the pedestal then unplug it. I take it in, wash it, and return it to the pedestal before filling it. Mine is mounted on a 4×4 post close to the front porch so you need not have deck railing to use it. You won’t be disappointed if you purchase this. I also ordered the thermostatically controlled outlet. A small price to pay to have the heater turn on and off as needed.UPDATE: I’ve owned several of these. There is a 3 year warranty for mfg defects. I want to say I’ve sent back product twice because the units stopped heating after 2 years. Living in Ohio, that means the heater had to work only 4 months of each year. I sent the unit back to the mfg each time with my Amazon receipt. THEY HONOR THE WARRANTY. I received a replacement unit within 2 weeks each time. My point is you don’t need to worry about getting stuck with something that doesn’t heat for the full 3 years. It’s an expensive bird bath but they will stand behind their product and the birds love this bath.

Element failure.
I purchased two of these heated bird baths. One 2 years ago and the heater element inside the bath failed so I purchased another to replace that one and this year the heating element in the newer one has failed. I really like the birdbath, they’re large and you can attach the base to a railing and then screw the top portion on and off to clean. Very convenient. I’m ordering two of the birdbath heaters that you just placed in the birdbath. I will continue to use these bird baths because they are so large. They hold a lot of seeds and feed in the summer. They hold a lot of water for the birds, but you will have to buy a separate heating element, after one or two seasons.

Product has 4 screws total, and they still missed one. The bowl is convex, so it only holds half the water. More like a drinking bowl. Seems well made, though, and the mounting system is great.
