Excellent Magnetic Chess Set !
What a very nice chess set for the price. Everything seems to be high quality and functional. I am really impressed with the magnetic feature, it’s somewhat intriguing. The chess pieces hold well on the board, and if you try to use another magnetic object, like a refrigerator magnet (checking the magnetism of the board itself), some are very weak or won’t work at all. However, every magnetic chess piece holds excellent ! Even holding the board upside down! The hinges and hasps are very good and the 2 little latches are like a small bullet catch to kinda snap lock in place so they don’t fall open. The storage compartment also is very good in holding and keeping the pieces in place do when it is opened, they won’t fall out, providing you put the pieces in their proper spot properly. The felt on the bottom of the pieces are excellent for the protection of the board and lifting off the board easily making a move. The chess pieces are very well made and finished with no sharp edges or roughness. The weight of the set was surprisingly of very good weight, so if you play in a vehicle, it will stay in place with no problem. This is a fantastic chess set for any skill level, to include the excellent portability! I highly highly recommend this chess set !

Cat friendly… obviously not playing chess with the cat
Love this chess set. It is easy to set up and put away. We have cats, so it is nice to have the pieces magnetized to the board. The cats can steal the pieces, but the pieces aren’t flying everywhere when the cats walk across our games. The game also travels well.

Good travel board
This board looks nice, the magnets are good, the hardware like the clasps all feel like good quality.There’s just one downside for me. The face of the board is either vinyl or a soft veneer that looks like wood, which aesthetically is fine and feels really smooth and nice, but because it’s soft, it scratches very easily. It also came with a scratch on it, that looked like they tried to cover the scratch with a wood stain type marker, but that just made the scratch more obvious.My husband and I use this as the board we take with us places, so scratches aren’t the end of the world. However, if I had gotten this as our “nice/at home” set, I probably wouldn’t be as okay with the scratches.I made a case for it to protect it from more scratches, especially for when it’s face down so we can pull the pieces out without resting it on anything that might scratch it (picnic tables and things like that).Other than how easily it’s scratched, it feels like a well made board and I am overall content with it as a travel board. It’s a good size with good pieces. Seems well made, came packaged well, and has created hours of fun for me and my husband.

Worth the money
The chessboard was great and detailed in line from the board, comes with an extra Queen and extra King which is nice. I think it’s definitely worth the money I’ve used it quite a bit the magnetics in the chessboard itself keeps the board for both opponents alive LOL

Best Chess Board on the Market
I am a chess player, 1200 rated. I’ve owned many chess sets, this one is high quality and an excellent value. Board is a portable 15 inches long, but still large enough to easily resolve your position in tournament style games. It has a smooth feel, chamfered design, sturdy latches; came with no nicks or scratches. Gap btw the two halves of the board is not noticeable. Magnets keep the pieces in place well, even at a steep angle—but don’t interfere with movement, I could barely feel the magnetic resistance when picking the pieces up. Pieces are durable and have a nice felt pad that matches the color of the brown pieces. The only downside is: I cannot throw the pieces in the board (without organizing them in their foam holes) and close the box quickly to save time. I don’t recommend this; but to do this I have jail-broken my board by removing the glued foam from one side and then taping the metal sheet back so that the pieces still magnetically stick to that side. Now I can pack the pieces away quickly and move on to my next match with ease.
