The kit was pretty cool. I just wish I could buy it without the bases. The steel was high quality. Came with screws and pretty much everything I needed except the wood.

You cannot use the 4 way, unless you have the 3 way…
When I ordered this 4-way set, I thought I was getting the entire set of pieces. It turns out that the 4-way is only the MIDDLE bracket set.If you want to build a lean-to style pergola, you’re going to also have to purchase the 3-way set to make it complete.Granted, for the price of these sets, there are other options out there for similar cost that include ALL of the parts you need, not just the middle bracket pieces.In regards to the actual pieces, the metal is a nice thick gauge, and there are built-in stoppers for the 4-way connector (see photos).While I love the sturdiness of these brackets, there is a bit of wiggle room. Granted, my 4×4 is weathered from the last 6 months so I’m not sure if that wiggle will be an issue for someone using fresh, wet wood.I deducted 1 star for how the listing is misleading, it could be worded better to let you know which pieces of the set you’re getting – like my photo which shows the pieces circled. Also, the cost is quite high (in comparison to other sets on the market) when you figure out that you need to buy both sets to make this pergola work.

Heavy duty metal
Excellent quality. These are heavy duty welded metal that won’t bend. They fit the beams exact and hold them securely. Worked perfect for my 10×16 deck pergola. Great value for the cost.

Great for a lean to on a garage, fits over 4 by 4 like expected.
I used these brackets to add a lean to onto my garage and these worked well for it. The 4 by 4 posts fit into these brackets like expected and there are holes where you can put a screw through the steel and into the board locking it in place. These seem sturdy and really makes the lean too stiff and not wobbly.
