Much needed reinforcement.
I have a 16′ x 12′ pergola and the main structure is made from 6″ treated lumber.In spite of it being 6″ thick I have noticed a very slight sag in the middle of the 16′ pieces. I intend to fix that with a pair of these brackets.The plan is to cut the center of the two 16′ pieces, install the brackets and add some vertical supports (also 6″ lumber) and eliminate what I perceive to be a potential problem down the road. Should I have bought four 8′ pieces of lumber instead of two 16′ pieces? Probably could have saved some money if I did – but I didn’t. Lesson learned. Not sure how much wood I have to remove from the main beams yet to install the support brackets but I will soon.The bracket is well made, has a nice finish on it that should hold up to the weather nicely. Especially since it has a roof to protech it from most of the weather. The whole thing should be rock solid when I’m done.Comes with the needed lag bolts, a hex driver for the bolts and a pair of gloves.Overall, I like these brackets and am positive they will solve my problem.

Could be a little more hefty
Overall, these could have been more robust. They bent some while I was putting them up. They do their job well once you have the construction together. But getting the 6×6 into position was a little tough, the frame was tighter than the dimensions. Not unexpected though. But knowing that the frame was difficult to fit in some dimensions it shocked me when one timber slipped and bent the crap out of one of the brackets. The 6×6 timbers are heavy though. The powder coating was over sprayed past some of the screw holes and it cause a lot of chipping which is likely to rust these a bit. I am sure they are mass produced and the spray both bot is not likely to have the programing to clean the holes out.

What a great bracket!
A lot of pergola brackets around the same price point as this are thin. So thin that you can bend it yourself sometimes. Well, not this one. It’s made THICK and perfect for holding a 6×6 beam. You don’t have to worry about it coming apart once you get it screwed together. The wood will need replaced WELL before the bracket will. This is one of those items that will probably outlast the person buying it.It looks professional. The slits cut into the bottom allow for wiggle room to slide the post in as not all wood is created equal. The welding done on it is extremely strong as well. The price point is amazing if you’ve seen what home depot or similar has these selling for, it’s really a no brainer.

These look like they are good quality and will work well for my pergola project that I will complete in the spring. I will update when the project is complete if I discover anything of note.

Very well-made with thick metal and a nice finish. Fits stock 4×4 wood.
Standard 4″ x 4″ post material actually measures 3.5″ x 3.5″ which matches the measurement of this hardware set.You can attach the wood to bracket with either a 4-1/2 inch x 1/4 inch carriage bolt (3/8″ holes), and/or with 2-1/2 to 3 inch decking screws (1/4″ holes).

Fits to a T
The T-bracket is very sturdy, and I am confident it will hold up for many, many years. It was packaged well and the metal was without blemish. I am guessing the black is powder-coated, though I could be wrong, and that is also flawless. All in all this seems like a dependable product and I would suggest it as such.
