Minor mods make it a great deal!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:This product is an exceptional value, well engineered, very easy to assemble. The cons first. Cedar is a great material. However, it is not very strong. If you look up the Modulus (measurement) of Elasticity you will find something around 1,110,000 lbf/in2 (7.66 GPa) The only woods less stiff than cedar (AFAIK) are cottonwood and balsa. Compare this to (Shagbark) Hickory @ 2,160,000 lbf/in2 (14.90 GPa). The negative reviews I saw were mostly (6 of 11) due to the bottoms falling out. The inside measurements of the one(s) I assembled were ~ 45.5″x 21″x 7.75″ this gives us an inside measurement of ~7405.125 Cubic Inches or roughly 4.28 Cu/Ft. Soil weighs between ~75# and 100# per cubic foot. IF fully loaded the soil will weigh between 321.4# and 428.5#. If the soil is wet the weights can be (much) higher. The advertisement for these planters state that they can support UP TO 200#. I strongly dislike this claim. We need something giving us a weight it is guaranteed to support. For instance “AT LEAST 100#”! In any event there is an easy fix. I installed a 1″ x 1″ x .125″ (wall thickness) square tubular bar under the middle of the floor. For steel, the MOE typically ranges from 190 to 210 GPa (Gigapascals) as compared to the 7.6 GPa of cedar. I did not select the bar by design. I relied on the old engineering axiom of “When in doubt- build it stout” and what I had in my (junk) steel rack. I also treated all cedar with Tung oil as well as pre-drilling all screw holes. Cedar also splits easily. So why do I give this 5 Stars? Because it’s such an incredible deal! In my location a 1″ x 8″ x 8′ cedar board costs just under $25 each. I didn’t do a dimensional drawing and make a materials list but my WAG is you will need between 4/5 (+/-) 8′ boards to build this. This is one of those “ya can buy it cheaper than ya can build it” projects. It is nice, inexpensive and it doesn’t cost much more to make it “Hell for Stout”. Good Luck!

Sturdy and easy to assemble
Cedar planters are sold here and there where I live, but, sorry, local sellers, I chose these because of how they were constructed. They seemed sturdier – especially the legs- than what was locally advertised on FB MP and the price was almost the same. They went together quickly. I did end up sanding any rough areas such as the top corners , filling any knot holes and covering it with an exterior poly to prolong its life. Oh, I also sprayed a rubber coating on the lower portion of the legs as they will probably be stored outside this coming winter. I originally ordered 2 but ended up ordering a third one as we bought too many squash plants. These are working well for us. We live in western Oregon where the soil is like lava Rock all summer, so this way we can control what our plants grow in. Also, we can place the planters in an area the deer can’t reach as easily. Win-win for us!

Raised bed
Assemble was ok but I glued parts together. Having cracking problems on legs could have been taller

FIRST TIME GARDENER HAPPY WITH THIS BED
At 70 yrs. old, I decided I wanted heirloom, non-gmo, real/natural tomatoes, and I’d have to grow my own. I’m on a modest budget, and these beds seemed reasonably priced. I bought two and put them together myself, without strain. Easy to follow directions. The screws are rather cheap–softer metal, I guess. The top shredded somewhat. I found that drilling holes before putting in the screws was easier and quicker. Probably, people with stronger hands and arms, for screwing into wood, may not need to do that. I easily placed them on my dolly to move into the yard, and lifted and placed them by myself. Nice, simple design. They look attractive and tidy. If you don’t want to buy the high-end cedar ones, these will do ya’ just fine.

Well designed and no back aches!! BUY!
I absolutely love my raised planter boxes! My adult son assembled them easily with his cordless drill. Now he wants some! I love being able to play in the dirt without the back aches from bending down!

That it is easy to put together 🙂
UPDATE: THE WHOLE BOTTOM FELL OUT 🙁 This box is amazing, super easy to assemble and of good quality, theonly LITTLE thing I would change is to put more screws on the bottomof the planter that holds the dirt. (I added my own)
