cool little shelf/cupboard
Really pleased with this little shelf. Fits well in my little bathroom in my apartment and looks stylish. Easy to put together and seems sturdy. Solid wood -no issues at all. Just enough space for makeup, a few hand towels, hair dryer/accessories, and a few toiletries on top.

MY REVIEWI ran into lots of problems assembling this cabinet and getting it into usable condition:1) The slot on left side panel where the backing board goes was misaligned by about 2 millimeters, making it impossible to slide the backing board into place. I had to use a file to widen the slot then had to force the the board into place while carefully tightening the screws.2) The cabinet door was sticking and jamming. I had to sand down the top right edge to get it to even open and close.3) The right side rail that supports the inside shelf arrived damaged and bent out of place. When trying to bend it back, it detached. This cabinet appears to be held together mostly by tiny brad nails (staples), without the use of wood glue. I had to apply my own glue and reattach it.4) One of the wood frame pieces at the bottom of the cabinet was splitting. I had to glue and clamp it to together to repair it. I forget to take photos of most of these problems, but I’ve uploaded one photo of this split wood issue, which was taken while I was in the process of fixing it.5) All edges on this cabinet were sharp. I ended up sanding every edge and corner, to round them off and make the cabinet safer to handle.6) The cabinet seems to be finished only in certain places, like the top of the inner shelf, yet not the bottom of the shelf. Due to this, I question the cabinet’s durability in high moisture places like a bathroom, which is where I intended to use it. I might end up applying my own finish/sealant to ensure the cabinet survives.PROS- Looks nice- Low priceCONS- Far too many manufacturing and quality issues- Modifications were needed to properly assemble, requiring lots of manual work- Poorly finished with questionable long term durabilitySUMMARYI bought this particular cabinet due to its low price. It was cheaper than the almost identical cabinets from VIAGDO or Purbambo. I regret this decision though, since the lower price comes at the cost of significant build quality issues. Although I haven’t seen the VIAGDO or Purbambo units in person, the customer uploaded images of those other products suggests there are some subtle but important differences from this Whole Housewares cabinet. The other units appear to have softer and properly rounded off edges. They also look like they’re constructed using thicker brad or finishing nails, which would make them more durable, compared to the flimsy fastening system used on my cabinet.With so many problems that I encountered with my cabinet, I simply cannot recommend it – unless lowest cost is your only concern. Otherwise, I suggest paying a bit more for higher quality.

Here’s a nice piece, somehow sturdy for its size and use – it came full of splinters, a mounting inner bar unglued, and some slats on the door curved – this piece should have been sanded, and more attention should been given to the uniformity of the slats
