Excellent post base. Keeps the posts ends from rotting. Everything included.
I’m extremely impressed with this post-base now that we’ve had the chance to fully install one of them. For your project to go smoothly, just make sure you have the right drill and bits for the job. The post base itself will do the rest. Here was our situation. We have a carport that was installed with the house. This carport is aluminum and it has a couple of downspouts for the gutter to drain into. However, over time as the driveway settled due to being located near a steep hill, one of the aluminum support posts was pulled loose from the bottom of the gutter of the carport, so the end of the carport wasn’t fully supported. After consulting with somebody who worked in construction, they recommended replacing the support with a 4×4 wooden post and since it would be exposed to watered being next to a downspout, they recommended that it at least be pressure treated and to keep the post base and away from water itself. That’s where this product really shines. This post base will keep the ends of your posts from touching the ground. It does this because inside of the post base it has a gap and then support that you set the post onto when you install it. Then you secure each side of the post bolt screws which are included. There are also four concrete bolts for the flanges on the sides of the post that you will install vertically down into concrete or whatever material your base is. Our base was a concrete driveway with rebar in it. Unfortunately, we thought that our drill which is a VSR drill and pretty heavy duty was not a full concrete capable drill. So it took us quite a lot of time and different bits to install the concrete bolts that were included. However, we did finally get everything done and I would have to say that now it’s the sturdiest support on the entire carport. It did take some time though, so I definitely recommend making sure that you have the correct drill and bit. It will save you hours of time! Now that it is installed I can say I think this is a great value for the money. The way that it’s designed is to make sure that your post can last a long time and keep it from rotting if it’s exposed to wet areas. The fit was absolutely perfect for the post as well. With wooden posts you get some variation and I’ve had to chip away bits before when installing things like this in the past. This one was quite a nice exception! It fit perfectly from the beginning. I could have been lucky and just gotten a nicely cut post but either way it worked out really well for me.As far as functionality, I would say this is extremely functional. You can use this to attach a pergola post to concrete or any other base as long as you have the right tools. Since it’s sturdy and gets the job done and is designed to keep the posts from rotting on the ends, this makes it very versatile. Even pressure treated posts will wick up moisture from the ends. So this design of keeping a gap between the end of the post and the base is just what we were looking for.Long story short, this will get the job done. I do think it’s pretty heavy duty because it was holding up the end of a carport and it was doing so beautifully. It seems sturdy and has everything included except for your labor. Whatever drill you need and your time.My only criticism would be to have clear directions and to emphasize what kind of drill and what kind of bit would be needed for the different base materials. But I don’t think I need to take anything off for that because I think when you purchase this you’ll be considering that already.Disclosure: I got this item for free through the Amazon Vine program

Excellent quality surface mount 4×4 post bases.
I really like these post bases. They’re made for surface mount applications, and they’re exactly what I wanted for my current DIY project. The steel is adequately thick, and the pieces are square. There’s a standoff plate welded into the bottom to keep your lumber off the finish surface and dry. The matte black coating is uniform on all the normally visible surfaces, and they look great. Also included are concrete anchors with wrench, and screws to connect post to post base. I’m attaching to wood beams so I used some structural screws I had on hand(not included). Once your post is set in place, there is a little play to plumb it up. (8) screws from opposite sides will secure it. The post connecting screws seem decent with 9mm hex heads and gold iridite finish to prevent corrosion. The overall height of the post base is an asset. It allows connections further up from the end for strength.Build quality of these post bases feel excellent. They’re sturdy, look great, and really affordable. Install is as easy as your circumstances allow. 5 stars for quality and value. Would recommend.

4×4 Post Base, Heavy Duty Post Anchor Base, Inner Size 3.5×3.5 Inch, 13 Gauge
Really heavy steel brackets for a 4×4 post. I used these for a small lean to on the side of my barn. The existing build was easily 100 years old and falling down. Some 4×4’s and these post bases and a few bags of concrete have everything back up and supported again. Now I want the pergola kit to build a solar panel array over my outdoor kitchen!

Strong base
Heavy duty, weather resistant post base. Holes in the bottom will keep the post from rotting. Once in place they are very sturdy. They come with everything you need for installation. Unfortunately we found that a standard treated 4×4 post would not fit as is. We did have to sand down all 4 posts to get them in. It didn’t take much time and it wasn’t terribly difficult. The finished is look is great and just what we needed.

Metal Base Foundation for Canopy
I ordered this black metal 4×4 base set with cement screws for a decorative project in my front yard garden, and I am very impressed with the quality. The bases are extremely sturdy and heavy duty, with a nice weight and solid feel that immediately gives confidence they will last and not rust away after the first rain. The finish looks clean and professional, matte powder coated and the included cement screws made installation simple without needing to make extra trips to the hardware store. They give you multiple sets which is nice. For the price, these are an excellent find.I’m using them as part of a decorative canopy structure over my front stairs, with the idea that plants will grow up and over to create a secret garden feel as you walk down to my property. These bases give the posts a strong, stable anchor and make the entire project feel secure. They fit the 4×4 posts perfectly with no wiggle, and everything lines up just right. Once bolted down, they don’t shift at all — exactly what I needed for a project that will hold weight and stand up to the elements. 4×4’s are tall and heavy so this is a must for safety as well.Compared to the cost at big box stores, these bases are a fraction of the price yet seem every bit as durable, if not more. I couldn’t be happier with the quality and value. If you’re building anything that requires a stable, long-lasting foundation for 4x4s, these are a fantastic option. AND I’m noticing they are about 3 inches taller than the ones that I bought at the big box store, so these seem even more safe and secure. Highly recommend!
